Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor class drug used with the other treatments, such as surgery or radiation in order to treat early breast cancer in women with the experienced menopause. It is also used in women with the experienced menopause, as a first treatment of breast cancer that has spread within the breast or to other organs of the body. This drug is also recommended for the treatment of breast cancer in women whose breast cancer has worsened after taking tamoxifen (Nolvadex).
