Description
Uses of medication: Fusidic acid cream is recommended for use in order to treat conditions where the skin is infected by the germs (bacteria), such as:
- Impetigo (a weeping, crusty and swollen patch of the skin)
- Infected dermatitis (inflammation of the the skin) and spots
- Infected cuts and grazes
Dosage: This medicine is only for use on your skin or the skin of a child. Do not swallow it. The cream should be rubbed gently on the skin. This cream is recommended to be used twice daily, in the morning and evening. If you forget to apply this cream, apply it as soon as you remember. Then next use this medication at the usual time.
Treatment reactions: The most commonly reported side effects of fusidic acid cream are as follows:
- itching
- burning
- skin irritation
Some other reported side effects are as follows:
- itchy rash
- skin inflammation
- eczema
- rash
Warnings and precautions:
- Avoid using this cream if you are hypersensitive to fusidic acid or sodium fusidate or any of its ingredients.
- Avoid using this cream on yourself or a child for more than 14 days, this is to avoid bacteria becoming resistant to the antibiotic e.g. your skin may become thin.
- The cream is not recommended in order to use on the large areas of the body.
- The cream should be avoided under bandages or dressings.
- Avoid getting this cream in or near your eyes as it may damage them or may cause an increased pressure in the eyes.
- Contact your healthcare provider if you have blurred vision or any other visual disturbances.
- Do not use the cream on the thinning skin, acne, skin ulcers or in skin folds (e.g. under breasts, groin area or armpits.
- While breast-feeding fucidin cream should not be applied to the breast.
- Avoid smoking or go near to the naked flames, as you may risk for the severe burns.
- Always use the Fusidic cream exactly as your healthcare provider has instructed you.
