Precautions

• Patients who received treatment with the Zometa (zoledronic acid 4 mg) Injection should not get the treatment with Reclast.
• Patients should be monitored for serum calcium with the concomitant use of the other medication known to cause hypocalcemia in order to avoid life-threatening hypocalcemia.
• Patients must be evaluated with thigh or groin pain to rule out a femoral fracture. Drug discontinuation should be considered in patients suspected to have an atypical femur fracture.
• Treatment in patients who are with severe renal impairment is not recommended. Patients must be monitored for serum creatinine before each dose.
• Preventive dental exams should be performed prior to initiating zoledronic acid 4 mg injection. Invasive dental procedures should be avoided.
• Severe incapacitating bone, joint, or muscle pain can occur. Immediately discontinue this drug if you experience severe symptoms.
• Patients must be adequately rehydrated before administration of Zoldria Injection.
• Patients must be instructed to inform their healthcare provider if they experience kidney problems prior to being given the injection of Zoledronic Acid.
• Caution is required when this medication is used with the other potentially nephrotoxic drugs.

Interactions:

• Caution must be imposed when Zoldria is used with the antiangiogenic medications as an increase in incidence of the ONJ have been reported in patients treated with these drugs.
• Caution is required when this drug is used with the other potentially nephrotoxic medications.
• Caution is instructed when bisphosphonates like Zoldria are recommended with the aminoglycosides or loop diuretics or calcitonin, since these respective agents could have an additive effect, results lower serum calcium level for longer periods than needed.

Dosage: Zoledronic Acid Injection should be given intravenously into the vein. Zoledronic injection’s single dose should not exceed 4 mg and the duration of the infusion must be no less than the 15 minutes.

Overdose: Patients who have consumed doses excess than the recommended dose, patients must be carefully monitored.

Missed Dose: In order to get precise benefit, it is necessary to take each scheduled dose of this drug as directed. If you forget a dose, contact your healthcare professional right away in order to establish a fresh dosing schedule. Do not consume double doses.
