Uses of medication: Etanercept injection, supplied generically under the brand Etacept is a biologic tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker commonly used to manage and treat autoimmune conditions. It is a soluble receptor, designed to bind both TNF-alpha and TNF-beta to inhibit the inflammatory response in joints and skin that is characteristic of these autoimmune disorders. The therapeutic drug can be used as a monotherapy or taken with other immunosuppressants, such as methotrexate. Etanercept is used for the treatment of adult patients with:

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
  • Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA)
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)
  • Plaque Psoriasis (PsO)

Etanercept 25 mg/50 mg injection is also used for the treatment of pediatric patients with:

  • Plaque Psoriasis, 4 years of age or older
  • Juvenile Psoriatic Arthritis, 2 years of age or older (JPsA)
  • Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (pJIA), 2 years of age or older
